Budoka (QUITO, 1985)
BUDOKA IS AN ECUADORIAN VISUAL ARTIST EXPLORING THE IDEAS THAT SHAPE WOMANHOOD AND BEAUTY IN CONTEMPORARY POP CULTURE WITHIN HER LATIN AMERICAN CONTEXT. THROUGH REFLECTIONS ON HER PERSONAL CREATIVE UNIVERSE, SHE CONCEIVES HIGLY SENSITIVE AND POWERFUL ANDROGYNOUS CHARACTERS AND OTHERWORLDLY IMAGES WHISLT INTENDING TO BUILD A BRIDGE WITH HER WORK BETWEEN THE LATIN AMERICAN CULTURAL PECULIARITIES AND THE JAPANESE LIFE PHILOSOPHY, SOCIETY, HISTORY AND AESTHETICS. THESE TWO VERY DISTANT GEOGRAPHIES SEEM TO BE EXTREMELY DIFFERENT BUT THROUGH HER DISCOURSE AND VISUAL CONSTRUCTIONS SHE GENERATES A CROSS CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING ON THEIR MEETING GROUNDS.
